Tutorial thumbnails: promise the outcome, show a person

Tutorial viewers click when they believe two things: this video solves my exact problem and this person knows it. Your thumbnail has to deliver both in one glance.

The formula

  1. Text = the outcome, not the topic. Not "Excel Guide" but "Fix Any Formula Error" — the result people are googling.
  2. Your face, confident, looking at the viewer. Tutorials are trust products; a real face reads as "someone accountable made this."
  3. Optional proof element: a screenshot, a before/after sliver, or a big number ("$0 → $10K").

Series consistency compounds

If you publish weekly tutorials, identical framing with your face builds recognition that flat "screenshot + arrows" thumbnails never will. Generate a batch in minutes: upload one selfie, generate four options, free.
